Constable Michael A Truitt has been a resident of The Colony and Denton County since 1986. Married since 1982, he is
deeply dedicated to family life. As a leader in his community, he has been actively involved and has demonstrated
his commitment to serving the public.
Constable Truitt was appointed to the office of Constable for Precinct 2 on November 15, 2005. He went on to win the
Republican Primary in March 2006 and was duly elected in November 2006
and will be sworn into office on January 1, 2007 to
a two-year term.
A 1990 graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas, where he majored in Politics and Government.
Constable Truitt started his
career in law enforcement in Austin as a dispatcher in 1983 and obtained his Peace Officers license in 1985 as a reserve
deputy in Dallas County. In 1988, he went to work for Dallas County Constable Pct. 3, where he served as Deputy
Constable until the end of 1992. He furthered his career by moving to Denton County in January 1993 where he
has worked for the Denton County Sheriff's Office and the Criminal
District Attorney's office.
Constable Truitt has earned many law enforcement accreditations
over his career. He holds a Texas Peace Officers
License, Master Peace Officers Certification, Instructor Proficiency
Certification, Firearms Instructor Certification and a Private
Constable Truitt is a member of the Justice of the Peace & Constable Association, Sheriff's Association of Texas, National
Sheriff's Association, Fraternal Order of Police, The Colony Chamber of Commerce, The Colony Rotary Club,
and the Little Elm Chamber of Commerce.
Constable Truitt is also a community volunteer. He volunteers with the Civil Air Patrol, Stewarts Creek Elementary PTA,
Denton County Republican Men's Club, Legacy Republican Club, Denton County Boys & Girls Club, Denton County Juvenile
Diversionary Board, and The Colony High School Band Boosters.
